Hollywood director Ron Howard, whose most recent work includes HILLBILLY ELEGY and SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY, celebrated 46 years of marriage to his wife, Cheryl.
The 67-year-old actor-director shared the announcement on Instagram and Twitter.
“Our 46th Wedding anniversary,” Howard wrote. “Celebrated quietly but beautifully on the #GoldCoast #QLD on my day off from directing #ThirteenLives for #MGM and @imagineentertainment. I’m a lucky fella.”
Supporters and others in the entertainment industry showed their support for his long-lasting marriage.
“Ron your not a ‘lucky fella,’ your a Blessed fella,” a fan wrote. “Marriage is the hardest job in the world, and for you and Mrs. Howard to be able to celebrate 46 years of marriage together shows that the vows you to made on June 7, 1975 to God, yourself, and to each other are not ‘just words’ but commitment to each other. You two are an example of what marriage is and what it takes to work for the hardest job for 46 years. Congratulations to you both.”
“Happy Anniversary!” another added. “Amazingly grounded loving couple.”
In November 2020, during the pandemic, Howard shared a heartfelt post about his and his wife’s first date in 1970.
“Nov 1 1970 Cheryl & I went on our 1st date,” Howard wrote. “We went to see a re-release of Stanley Kramer’s It’s a Mad Mad Mad World and then got some pizza at now defunct Barnone’s in Toluca Lake. Quite a start, right?”
Howard continued: “Today we are celebrating with these kind of socks we ordered (Cheryl’s w/my mug got held up) and a trip to our local take-out pizza place. We’ll be driving in the same ’70 VW Bug I picked Cheryl up in 5 decades ago. It runs great. So do we.”
