The Property Brothers Reveal Behind-the-Scenes Look at Their Lives

By Movieguide® Contributor

Drew and Jonathan Scott, better known as the Property Brothers, are sharing little-known details about their lives, disagreements, and future plans.

While both brothers are amazing at renovating kitchens, they admit that’s where their experience ends.

Jonathan shared that Drew is a better cook than him, while Drew stated that both their partners — Zooey Deschanel and Linda Pham — are cooking geniuses.

They might not be fans of spending time in the kitchen, but the Property Brothers did reveal their favorite room: the bathroom. Both Scott brothers have tricked their bathrooms out with spa-like features, so it’s no surprise they enjoy spending time there.

The brothers even revealed their biggest disagreement while working together, although they hilariously disagreed on what that disagreement was.

Jonathan maintained that it was a Las Vegas project where Drew wanted to put in a waterslide, while Drew thought their biggest disagreement came when they were working on his own home.

Lastly, the Property Brothers revealed their plans for the future, from producing their shows through their own company, to expanding their home goods line to include everything from curtains and bathroom vanities, to carpets and tables.

Movieguide® previously reported on some of their plans, including a multi-year deal with HBO:

PROPERTY BROTHERS stars Drew and Jonathan Scott have just signed a multi-year deal with HGTV to create more content together.

Under the three-year deal, the Scotts will continue to shoot episodes of PROPERTY BROTHERS: FOREVER HOME and CELEBRITY IOU. They will also develop more home improvement series and create exclusive digital content.

“Our long and successful collaboration with Drew and Jonathan is largely built on their endless creativity reserves and their ability to establish deep connections with audiences,” Kathleen Finch, Warner Bros. Discovery’s chairman and chief content officer of U.S. Networks Group, told Variety. “These are stars who consistently attract and engage fans, no matter the platform, so this new agreement ensures that together we can continue to develop more fun, innovative content that will excite viewers for years to come.”

The Scotts are equally excited about the deal.

Jonathan said, “We’ve been working for so long now with HGTV and also Warner Bros. Discovery and it was a no-brainer for us. We were definitely wooed by many other major players and some of them who really, really wanted our brand on their platform. And it just feels right with HGTV because we’ve been a family. It’s not even just that it’s a job for us and a workplace.”

He continued, “The relationship we have, it’s a symbiotic relationship where we develop the shows and we listen to the fans. We’re engaging directly with the fans with over half a million messages a week, each, from our fans, so we know what they want and the network has always been up to that with us.”

Drew chimed in, saying,  “I think, along with everybody else, the executive team is an amazing team. And acting and scripted is my passion and they have that side of things, plus all of their lifestyle and unscripted and everything we’ve been doing already. So this is just a dream for making things bigger and better, reaching more people. I think it’s exciting and the whole time those discussions were happening, for me at least, it was just exciting.”

Scripted content might be in the cards for the Property Brothers. HGTV and Food Network have partnered with Discovery+ to make holiday movies that incorporate their stars. PROPERTY BROTHERS fans have their fingers crossed for a Scott-family Christmas movie!
