What’s Next for BLUEY? Here’s What We Know…

BLUEY may be the No. 1 most-watched children’s show, but the franchise has even more in store for the beloved Bluey and Bingo.

“I can’t talk about the specifics, but what I can tell you is that we have already commissioned seven new digital original series that will launch this year, which is 80-plus new episodes for YouTube,” BBC Studios’ Jasmine Dawson said of upcoming plans for the franchise. “And we’re only just getting started.”

The franchise has already launched a special series where celebrities read storybooks to children.

“We’ve had a phenomenal first series of BLUEY BOOK READS [featuring A-list celebrities reading Bluey storybooks], which won a Kidscreen Award last month. That series has amassed more than 75 million views. We’re so excited for the next season, and we feel this is something that we can build on,” Dawson explained. “We really focused on A-list celebrities in the first BOOK READS, and we’ve started experimenting with international talent and thinking about how we make this fully global and find the right balance of creator talent and A-list talent.”

Season 1 of BOOK READS featured talent like Bindi Irwin, Jenna Fischer and Eva Mendes.

BLUEY keeps connecting with viewers — children and adults alike — thanks to its heartfelt, touching storylines.

Dawson said, “We’re so lucky to have something like BLUEY, because it does that. It speaks to all different age ranges. Obviously, it was born as a preschool program and brand, but it’s been an absolute rocket ship over its very short life cycle, and it’s something that can unite so many age ranges. That’s a real feat when you think about the program, but also quite difficult for my team, because you have to be so thoughtful about how you cater to an age range that spans from the very young to their grandparents.”

Movieguide® nominated BLUEY Episodes 348 and 349 “Ghostbasket” and “The Sign” for the Best TV for Families Teddy Bear Award®:

These episodes are not only well animated but have top notch storytelling. The characters are all relatable by both children and adults. The entire purpose of each episode is to teach important life lessons for every person. “Ghostbasket” shows how the elderly should be treated. “The Sign” is about trusting in a divine plan even when life doesn’t go your way. Thus, both episodes have strong moral worldviews. “Ghostbasket” and “The Sign” are a delight for children of all ages, including parents and grandparents.

Creator Joe Brumm had a simple goal in mind for the show: “‘Why shouldn’t a kids’ show make parents laugh too?’ When the time came to do BLUEY, that became the challenge.”

It’s done just that, and last year, BLUEY became the most watched show of all shows in America, per Variety.
