In “Chapter 4:  The Sauna Test” of STRANGER THINGS, characters attempt an exorcism of sorts to get another worldly creature out of a host by using a sauna to literally sweat it out. Mrs. Driscoll from previous episodes gets taken to the hospital. Will and his pals call a “code red.” Hop and Joyce explore the shady behavior of the town Mayor and some developers. Dustin, Steve and Robin enlist the help of Erica to help them see what the Russians are doing.

“The Sauna Test” is well-paced and acted. All the storylines are tied in well with one another, leaving viewers eager to know the outcome. The episode has a strong Christian, moral worldview with positive American, capitalist elements. There are Christian and moral nods to caring for others, a grand mention of the benefits of capitalism, and one scene where a mother and daughter have a heart to heart, though their discussion is clouded by some feminist ideology.
