‘I’d Like to Thank my Good Lord And Savior’: Morgan Wallen Wins Big at ACM Awards

Earlier this week, Morgan Wallen took home the big prize at the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards as the country star’s Dangerous: The Double Album earned Album of the Year.
In his acceptance speech, Wallen thanked those most important to him: his loved ones, the people who worked on the album with him, and Jesus Christ.
“When I started this album, I was a kid. By the time I put it out, I was a father,” Wallen said, referring to his son, Indigo. “That’s become more important to me than anything else. To my son, this album and this award will signify that his daddy was a fighter, and he chased his dreams and worked hard to make them a reality.”
Wallen added, “I want to say a special thank you to all of the songwriters, producers and musicians that played on this album. I wish you were standing here next to me now. This project would not be complete without each of them.”
Wallen recently endured a scandal after a video was leaked of him saying a very offensive term. Wallen has been sincerely apologetic over the video and recognizes the grace so many people gave him.
“I’d also like to thank my good Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my family, my friends, my team in Nashville, country radio and everyone who has shown me grace along the way,” he finished. “Most importantly, I have to address my fans personally and directly: thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Wallen doesn’t talk much about his faith. However, he did speak on it after the Borderline Bar & Grill shooting in Thousand Oaks, California, in 2018.
The singer talked to Taste of Country after the tragedy and said, “I don’t have any answers, but in my personal opinion, I’m a person that has faith and I believe that a lot of people have neglected God.
“We don’t put the Ten Commandments in school anymore. We just neglect everything and people act like the Ten Commandments is something so terrible. I mean, it’s a way to live. I think we all could agree on what they say.”
“I believe in God,” he said. “I believe that He’s real and I believe He has control over a lot of things and I think throughout history there have been a lot of countries that have turned their back on Him and the result is not great. Hopefully, we can get something figured out.”
Wallen was first introduced to the world on the singing competition show THE VOICE in 2014 where he was on Team Usher and Team Adam Levine before being eliminated in the playoff rounds, Country Daily reports.
He is the son of a Southern Baptist preacher, and before the THE VOICE, he only sang in church.
