Sadie Robertson Huff Takes Break From Social Media to Remind Herself of God’s Word

By Movieguide® Contributor

Sadie Robertson Huff recently took to Instagram to remind her followers about the harmful nature of social media and to encourage them to focus on what’s important.

Huff shared a Bible verse with her followers: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (‭‭John‬ ‭1:5), then added, “took some time off to remind myself of this^^^!!!”

Her post continued:

I just want to remind y’all of this verse that really helped me. But i also want to challenge y’all with something.

That light that shines in the darkness is Jesus. But it’s also you. It’s Jesus in YOU.

I think some of us forget that.

We are waiting on Jesus to come… He did come. Now God made you for here and now. And His power is alive in you – here and now.

There is a lot in life that we can not control, but you can control you. you can control your words, your actions, and your kindness. you can control who you follow, what you look at, and what you share. You can control what you like, comment, and message. You can control alot really… don’t miss that. don’t forget that!

with the spirit of the living God in you – YOU can move mountains my friend. don’t loose sight of that!

your words hold the power of LIFE AND DEATH. don’t take that lightly! if you see someone speaking words of destruction please speak up and speak life!

so many of us are so anxious about the darkness we stay in the bed and hide under the covers… it’s time to get up and turn on the lights. I’m tired of watching darkness attempt to overcome light… anyone else?

Huff has previously spoken about the power of social media.

Sadie Robertson Huff shared her thoughts on how the younger generation can use digital media for good while appearing at an NRB forum.

“I would encourage anyone with social media to be authentic to you, to the ministry that God has given you, to the voice that God’s given you,” she said. “It’s so refreshing when someone is real, and someone believes what they’re saying, and someone has conviction behind what they’re saying.”

When talking about the large amount of time her young fans spend online, Huff said, “To be able to be a light in that space is so important, because they are already there. I love what Jesus said, ‘You are the light of the world.’ He talks about how you don’t light a lamp and put it under a stand… We are supposed to be the light of the media.”

“What I want to show on social media is that I’m a whole person,” she continued. “God created us with the ability to laugh and have fun… and He also created us to have wisdom, and the desire to pursue Him in worship.”

Even though there are downsides to social media use, Huff sees the positive aspects of the platforms, using them to connect with others.

“With social media, that’s a way for me to get to know people, and they can get to know me, so they trust me, and they like me, and we have a relationship,” she explained. “Then, when I speak, I speak very clearly and very boldly, and I don’t water down things I’m saying about the gospel of Jesus.
