Former Hillsong members Ben Fielding and Reuben Morgan recently formed a new band called CXMMXNS (/com-mons/) — and answered some fan questions about their time with the famed worship group.

They explain that CXMMXNS is “a gathering of worshippers committed to uniting believers around our common confession — Christ.”

“Birthed in Sydney, Australia, CXMMXNS is passionately committed to gathering worshippers worldwide and serving local churches with songs that everyone can sing,” they say on their website.

In a new post on their social media, Fielding and Morgan answered several questions from their fans.

One question was, “Are you guys still in Hillsong?”

“We (Ben Fielding & Reuben Morgan) have not been with Hillsong for a number of years now,” the two answered. “While in many ways the closing of that chapter was heartbreaking & for reasons outside of our control — our hearts are also full of gratitude for the deep friendships, the incredible songs & the years of seeing God do more with our music than we ever thought was possible. Like many of our friends who have also moved on, our passion for writing songs that inspire worship & help The Church sing is stronger than ever.

“We are still creating music & collaborating with the people you know & love from that season, but going forward, our songs will be released under CXMMXNS — Our new worship initiative & the new name you can look for wherever you listen to your music,” they continued.

“We also encourage anyone who loves the songs from those days to listen & support those same songwriters & worship leaders, our friends who are making some really exceptional music independently: Benjamin William Hastings, Taya, Aodhan King, Brooke Ligertwood, AMXN Radio (Joel), Matt Crocker, Hannah Hobbs & others,” the duo added.

Another fan asked, “When will Hillsong worship be back?”

“Like many of our friends, we (Reuben Morgan & Ben Fielding) are no longer involved, so whatever happens from here will look quite different,” the two responded. “Hillsong Worship was such an inspiration to us growing up in Australia — the songs of Geoff Bullock, Darlene Zschech, United, & then all the music that came after.

“What excites us now is seeing Australian songwriters continue to write songs that serve local churches & worshippers all around the world,” they added. “We encourage you to follow & support the people you loved from Hillsong Worship — so many of them are releasing brilliant music under their own names. It’s a new day, & we dare to believe it might even be more fruitful.”

They just teased their next single, “Still,” arriving this Friday and featuring Bella Taylor Smith.

“‘Still’ – A song we’ve sung for years, somehow means more today than ever before. In times of chaos, in pain, in suffering, we cling to the peace of God and trust He will carry us through. He is Lord over the flood, ruler of the storm,” they wrote alongside a clip of the song.

While Fielding and Morgan’s time with Hillsong has been over for some time, the pair stay busy creating new music through CXMMXNS to uplift believers around the world.
