Arkansas QB Proclaims His Faith in Christ
By Movieguide® Contributor
Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green discussed his faith and explained how he works to shine the light of Christ in everything he does.
“[God] is everything to me,” Green told Sports Spectrum’s podcast. “I start my day with Him. I’m just blessed to have a family that taught me to always keep Him first, even when I was just a little kid.”
“I’m blessed to have a dad that always keeps me in line and keeps always reminding me and always making sure, you know, that I’m prayed up…” Green continued. “Always just staying focused on keeping the main thing and keep[ing] my eyes on Jesus. So I’m definitely blessed.”
Along with his parents setting a good example, Green was also influenced by his older sister who is a strong believer and would share her faith with the world, even back in high school. Green was inspired to be like her, which caused him to take his faith seriously from a young age and intentionally dove into scripture so he could discuss the Bible’s teachings with his friends.
“My sister, she really influenced me because she was always, like, just in the Word and her knowledge of the Bible; she could quote verses, you know, just like that. So I saw that, and I wanted to do the same,” Green said. “So, you know, I was just always in the book, and I had a Bible study with my teammates in high school and things like that. And my knowledge of God and Jesus grew, but my personal relationship really grew and transformed when I was in college. I’ve always known Him — the words and the verses — but I actually got to know Him on a personal, deeper level.”
Having both a knowledge of scripture and a deep relationship with Christ, Green looks to be a light on the field, bringing Christ into both practices and games.
“I try to display that every time I go out on the field…I want everybody that watches me to, you know, see that light — see Jesus in me,” he said. “I want to take it off the field too…you know, God created me for more than just being a football player. I know, like, that’s my ability for sure, but, you know, I just wanted to be that light in the community.”

Green has certainly taken the platform God has given him to make His name known.
His Instagram bio features Philippians 4:13, which reads, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
“My biggest impact I hope to have is to use my platform to spread Jesus’ name and to glorify Him with the gifts and talents God has blessed me with, and to inspire and encourage Christians to do the same,” the quarterback told His Huddle earlier this year.
While he continues to put up excellent stats, Green points all of his success to Christ, inspiring young athletes to do the same. It is inspiring to see such a talented athlete find their identity in Christ.
Movieguide® previously reported on faith in college football:
College football coach Dabo Swinney relied on his faith as he moves on from Clemson’s loss to Notre Dame, which bumped the team from #4 to #12 in the college football rankings.
Clemson’s loss to Notre Dame, 35-14, is the worst loss since Swinney took over the team in 2009.
“We missed an opportunity, but we have another opportunity this week,” Swinney said. “And that’s the good news for us. Also, we’re a better team certainly than what we played the other night. We’re 8 and 1, not 5 and 3. And every goal we have is intact.”
“I don’t grow weary, you know, I grow stronger,” he continued. “The Bible says that. Galatians 6:9 says, ‘Do not grow weary from doing what is right and good for, at the appropriate time, you will reap a harvest of blessing if you don’t give up.”
Swinney went on, “That’s the big thing. And I’ve lived that my whole life – I don’t grow weary, I grow stronger. I’m excited about having a good Tuesday practice today and ain’t nothing gonna steal my joy. And I’m going to do everything I can to not let the joy be taken out of it for this football team.”
