By Movieguide® Contributor
Country Star Blake Shelton gave a random shoutout to THE CHOSEN, revealing he just finished watching Season 3 and he loves the show.
“Random two thumbs up from a country singer…Just finished season 3 of THE CHOSEN and I absolutely loved it,” Shelton wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “No question in my mind why it’s a world wide phenomenon.”
Shelton’s post was met by encouragement from fans of the show, as well as gratitude from members of the cast.
“Ah man. Thanks brother!” actor Jonathan Roumie said in the replies. “Wait till you see what season 4 of @thechosentv has in store. Bless you.”
“Really appreciate that. Glad you love it,” added THE CHOSEN’s X account.
Shelton also received a reply from his wife, Gwen Stefani, warning him not to get ahead of where she is in the show.
“@blakeshelton Obsessed!! Can’t wait for season 4 @thechosentv,” she wrote. “U better not watch w out me!!”
Shelton and Stefani started dating in 2014 after appearing as judges on THE VOICE. During that time, Stefani brought Shelton to church and helped him find the Lord. He is now a strong believer and is proud of his faith.
“I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life,” Shelton told The Tennessean in 2019. “The biggest part of that is just how [Stefani] came into my life and now our relationship. It’s just too weird.”
“If you take God out of it, it doesn’t make sense,” he continued. “If you put God into it, everything that’s happened with us makes sense.”
As for Season 4 of THE CHOSEN, fans continue to wait for its release on streaming after licensing issues caused a delay. The show’s creator Dallas Jenkins gave an update at the end of April; while he didn’t have a specific date for when the season will hit streaming, he was confident that it would come in the next couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, THE CHOSEN has begun work on Season 5, with the episodes walking through Holy Week.
Movieguide® previously reported:
The cast and crew of THE CHOSEN are excited to get back into the swing of things as filming for Season 5 begins.
“[Things] have gone remarkably well,” Jonathan Roumie said. “I arrived feeling like I don’t know how this is going to go, and praise God, it went really well. Day two [of filming] was even easier than day one, much lighter. We were able to have some time to kind of joke around a little bit.”
Even though it’s been over half a year since the cast wrapped filming for Season 4, they felt like they were able to quickly return to their characters and fall into their close relationships.
“I blinked by eyes, and I’m starting season five now. Has there been a break? I don’t know. It’s nice weather—that’s a first for THE CHOSEN,” Elizabeth Tabish said.
