Candace Cameron Bure Excited to See ‘Where God Is Going To Take’ Her Children

Siblings Candace Cameron Bure and Kirk Cameron recently sat down for a conversation about family and motherhood.

Bure and Cameron both started acting at an early age, but said there wasn’t really any sibling rivalry.

“I think it’s so cool that we get to be doing this,” Cameron said. “What are the chances that two kids in the same family would not only be on TV, but come to faith in the Lord and then see the value of using platforms…to be able to encourage people?”

He then commended Bure for “living out your convictions in Hollywood with kindness and compassion and courage…unafraid to share your faith everywhere you go.”

Bure also shared some praise for her brother, saying, “Thank you for being so bold and sharing your faith and making me feel comfortable to do the same.”

The pair then talked about what it’s like to parent older children, moving from the “authority in the home,” to “hopefully the trusted advisor who gets to speak into their life.”

“It is challenging,” Bure admitted. “It’s hard to let them go and you can feel a sense of loss as well, and yet, I look at them in a very excited way because I’m happy that their wings are mature and that they get to go fly on their own. I love seeing who God has made them and where God is going to take them, and that is exciting to me as a parent.”

Cameron added, “One of the hardest things to do is to let your kids make mistakes….they have to learn how to deal with [hard things, but] if we plant the seeds of wisdom, the book of Proverbs says that the wisdom that we’ve planted in their heart and in their mind will speak to them.”

Cameron and Bure frequently talk about how faith is an integral part of their parenting. Movieguide® previously reported:

Kirk Cameron sat down with his sisters, Candace Cameron Bure, Bridgette Cameron and Melissa Cameron, to talk about how they instill Christ-like values in their children despite today’s culture.

“[The thing I want them to take away] would be the love from the Lord,” Melissa said. “I want to pass on to my children…it would be to really trust your mom and dad and God, who know you and love you.”

Kirk agreed: “Think of how many more voices are in our kids’ ears, through their phone with social media….how important it is to have a trusted voice.”
