THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS just hit a major milestone at the box office!

“Marvel/Disney’s THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS crossed the five-century mark globally, reaching $505.1M,” Deadline reported, noting that “it’s the No. 8 studio movie of the year both internationally and worldwide.”

The movie is also the first Marvel project released this year to make over $500 million at the box office.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS premiered this summer to rave reviews, with audiences and critics alike praising the creative and heartfelt origin story for Marvel’s “First Family.”

“THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS is one of the more entertaining, engaging, exciting superhero movies,” a portion of the Movieguide® review reads. “It also has one of the most heartwarming, powerful premises in years, because it focuses on protecting the family. As such, it stresses the importance of fathers and mothers.”

Director Matt Shakman spoke to Variety about the importance of showcasing family in FIRST STEPS, explaining, “[Reed Richards and Sue Storm] are parents first. They are scientists and explorers second. And they’re superheroes only when they have to be. I come at this as a dad and as a husband. That’s what makes it so special to me.”

Fans are anxiously awaiting The Fantastic Four’s next appearance in the MCU, which is slated for next year. The superhero team is part of AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY, which will feature dozens of heroes, from the Avengers to the X-Men.

“I love that I get to continue with Sue because it’s so interesting,” Vanessa Kirby, who plays Sue Storm, told MovieWeb.

Production on DOOMSDAY is underway, and Kirby let slip to Deadline that she is “loving it, absolutely loving it. It’s been a complete privilege.”

“[The Russo Brothers, who are directing the project] describe it like they’re making a recipe of different ingredients, and it’s unbelievable that these Avengers movies work in such a beautiful way,” Kirby explained

She continued, “You look at INFINITY WAR and you’ve got all these different energies but somehow they all fuse together, and I remember them saying the first one they had no idea if any of them would go together, and it just works. It’s quite exciting to be a part of something and go, ‘OK, this is my flavor, I don’t know.’ It’s in their hands to work out what flavors go with what and how and where and there’s a surrender in that.”

With this impressive box office achievement under their belt, it looks like Marvel fans can’t wait to see The Fantastic Four again in DOOMSDAY!
