HOME IMPROVEMENT Stars Tim Allen And Richard Karn Team Up For ‘More Power’ In New TV Show

HOME IMPROVEMENT stars Tim Allen and Richard Karn are putting on their tool belts and gearing up for their new series MORE POWER.

“Having the opportunity to explore my curiosity in depth and really get to know more about the people and things that make us what we are today gets me excited,” Tim Allen told Bobvila.com.

The History Channels’s 10-episode series brings the two stars together alongside fellow DIYer April Wilkerson. The trio set out various locations to explore tools, big and small, meet the professionals that use them, and, of course, learn the history behind the tools. Allen said that each episode will end with a challenge to build a creation, using the highlighted tool, such as an automatic leaf-vacuum, in the aptly named “Tim’s Maker Challenge.”

As some may recall, Allen and Kern co-starred on the hit show HOME IMPROVEMENT and have been friends ever since.

“[W]hat better pal to have at my side than Richard Karn? We both share a great appreciation of people who can solve a problem not by talking about it, but by
‘doing’ it with creativity and amazing skills,” Allen said.

Karn, who played Tim Taylor’s (Tim Allen) cohost Al Borland, on Taylor’s show “TOOL TIME” in IMPROVEMENT also shared his enthusiasm to be working with his long-time friend and costar.

“My friendship with Tim has lasted over 30 years… in a row!” said Karn. “The chance to do a show like ‘Tool Time’ was unquestionably exciting.”

The duo also appeared in another series in 2021, ASSEMBLY REQUIRED. The History Channel series brought “the best and brightest” to compete “to breathe new life into everyday household items in desperate need of fixing,” as described by A&E.

Movieguide ® previously reported on the costars reunion for ASSEMBLY REQUIRED:

Allen, who just finished the final season of LAST MAN STANDING, had high praise for his co-star.

“This is the most unusual experience,” Allen said. “But [Karn] was able to bring it back down and be exactly like we were at ‘Tool Time.’ It’s amazing how this is an expansion of that relationship.”

Allen revealed that he had not originally considered Karn for a cohost. But when Allen presented the idea to Karn, his former co-star did not hesitate to join the show.

“He jumped at the chance,” Allen said. “It became the two of us, kind of a live version of ‘Tool Time,’ if you will.”

MORE POWER airs on the History Channel and premiered June 29th.
