More Detail:

“Career Days” is the sixth episode of NBC’s series of THIS IS US. Randall struggles with his identity after learning William, his biological father, is musically gifted. From childhood, Randall is shown to have been incredibly intelligent, and his job as a business commodity trader reflects his mathematical abilities. After learning about William’s talents, Randall tries to use his daughter’s Career Day at school to exhibit his own artistic side. Meanwhile, Kevin struggles with his acting because he hasn’t processed his feelings of grief and loss after his father’s death. Finally, Kate takes a job as a personal assistant but learns there was a secret reason for her hiring.

“Career Days” broaches the subjects of grief and loss and also addresses the struggle that parents with teenage children often experience. Kate, Kevin and the daughter of Kate’s boyfriend all struggle with learning how to communicate their feelings without pushing away their loved ones. “Career Days” has a morally uplifting theme stressing the value of the parent-child relationship, but there’s some foul language and sexual references, so caution is advised.
