More Detail:

In “Jack Pearson’s Son,” Rebecca wants to go on tour with her band. Jack initially supports her. However, when he finds out she briefly dated another band member, he retracts his support, and they fight. In the future, Kate gets kicked out of weight loss camp, returns to Toby, and they reconcile. They begin to ask each other deep questions to try to strengthen their relationship. Randall continues to buckle under the strains of work and family and eventually has a breakdown. Kevin nervously prepares for the opening night of his play, but when he realizes Randall is in distress, he abandons the play and comes to comfort Randall.

“Jack Pearson’s Son” focuses primarily on the concept of trust. Jack wants to trust Rebecca, but when he discovers her past, his trust is shaken, and he turns to alcohol. Toby trusts Kate with his hard secrets, but Kate struggles with how to be open and trusting in return. Kevin doubts his playacting abilities but is reminded that he’s Jack Pearson’s son, and that he can trust his skills. “Jack Pearson’s Son” is a dramatic episode, with some positive moral content, but it has references to some immoral behavior, so caution is advised.
