TOM AND JERRY (2021) is a live-action comedy in theaters and streaming on HBO Max and starring the famous cartoon cat and mouse. The movie begins in New York City. A cat named Tom plays the piano for onlookers and tourists. He hopes to make it big one day. While playing for an audience, a mouse named Jerry steals Tom’s thunder with his jazzy dance moves.

Later, a young woman almost literally runs into Tom on the street. The woman, named Kayla, hijacks the resume of a potential event planner who was going to interview for a position at a fancy hotel. Using the stolen resume, Kayla lands job at the hotel as an event planner. However, she wasn’t expecting having to plan a high-profile celebrity wedding at the hotel, in only a few days!

Meanwhile, Jerry finds his way to the hotel and gets cozy with its amenities while Tom is hot on his tail. A cook in the hotel kitchen finds Jerry and tells management. The news of a mouse in the kitchen on the cusp of a big catering event, the celebrity wedding, could have disastrous effects! So, Kayla takes it upon herself to find Jerry and get rid of him.

Out on the street, a discouraged Tom wonders what will ever become of his music career, but he sees Jerry living large inside the hotel from a window. That mouse! He must be punished for making a fool of Tom in public! Soon thereafter, Tom successfully gets inside the hotel and finds Jerry. They cause a ruckus, which brings Kayla to the scene. Kayla recognizes Tom from the street earlier, and the two hatch a plan to catch Jerry.

Will they succeed with flying colors? Or, will Jerry get into other mischief?

TOM AND JERRY is a hybrid of live-action and animation where all the animals are animated with the likeness of the characters from the famous cartoon with the same title. The movie’s hybrid style is reminiscent of WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT or a more contemporary movie like SONIC THE HEDGEHOG. Viewers should know that Tom and Jerry don’t speak any dialogue, just like the cartoon series.
