Candace Cameron Bure Points Fans to the Bible Amid Political Turmoil
By Movieguide® Staff
Candace Cameron Bure took to social media on Wednesday, not to offer her political opinions about current events, but to point her fans and followers back to the Word of God.
“I have so much to say, but here’s the thing, I don’t want to use my social media to talk politics because I stopped talking politics when I stopped cohosting THE VIEW,” Bure started a series of Instagram stories. “Here’s what I do want to say: Read this Bible, God’s word. If we want change, we need to read it and ingest it and make the change from here.”
Earlier Wednesday, Bure posted an Instagram story that said, “My identity is not first republican or democrat,” with a picture of a cross. The bottom portion of the story read, “I pray for God’s healing hand over the United States of America.”
Bure’s comments come after a mob stormed the U.C. Capitol building on Tuesday as Congress was set to ratify the electoral college vote.
Though many celebrities offered their own commentary for the riots, Bure stuck to her faith.
“Church, step up. Ladies, gentlemen, read the Bible,” Bure said. “Here I am with my Bible study girlfriends, we are going to read the Bible, friends, cover to cover this year in 2021. [There’s] no specific reading plan, but we are going through it. It’s a lot of reading every day. Oh, and if you don’t have a Bible study group, use Instagram or Facebook or whatever social media you’re on for your accountability. I think that’s a great way to use social media. It’s why I tell all of you, it’s because I want more accountability. And I have it with the girls that I’m doing it with, but this is just extra. I share it so that I have to be a woman of my word. And that is my encouragement to you today.”
