Carrie Underwood Raises Over $400,000 for Vets

By Movieguide® Contributor

Christian country music singer Carrie Underwood recently raised $420,000 for a cause she is passionate about—helping veterans have homes.

“I’m so proud of the fans that came out to the tour and making this donation possible,” Underwood said. “They have always shown up to support great organizations like Tunnel to Towers, making the world a better place while coming out to see us.”

Underwood donated $1 for every ticket purchased for her Denim & Rhinestones Tour. The funds went to the Tunnel Towers Foundation, an organization that provides mortgage-free homes to injured veterans and first responders with families.

The Foundation wrote on X, “Massive THANK YOU to Carrie Underwood for helping us continue to #dogood.”

The singer shared why the organization is close to her heart.

“I’ve been blessed enough to get to perform for and be involved in various events and projects that support the amazing men and women of our military,” Underwood said.

“I’ve done everything from touring with the USO in Iraq and Kuwait, to playing shows at military bases in the U.S., to writing songs for special projects used to benefit our military members and their families,” the singer said.

“I’ve met countless brave souls that sacrifice their time and effort to keep us safe here at home. And I’ve met many spouses and children of those who don’t make it back home,” she said. “Those are the stories that I could never and would never want to forget.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Underwood’s involvement in a charity concert following the Nashville tragedy earlier this year:

Carrie Underwood concluded the night with her 2014 hit song, “Something in the Water,” which she sang from the perspective of a newly baptized Christian.

‘I had no idea what I was going to sing tonight,’ Underwood stated before she sang the song. ‘But it is a night of joy, and I thought, ‘What’s the most joyful song I have?’ I think I landed on it. I hope I did. If you know it, sing along. If you don’t, sing something. Make a joyful noise.’

‘Couldn’t fight back the tears, so I fell on my knees, sayin’, ‘God if you’re there come and rescue me,’’ Underwood sang. “Felt love pourin’ down from above. Got washed in the water, washed in the blood. And now I’m changed. And now I’m stronger. There must be somethin’ in the water,’ Underwood sang as many fought back tears.
