A Letter To The Editor From Corbin Bernsen
Our friend Corbin Bernsen (L.A. LAW, PSYCH and Director of 3 DAY TEST available on Pure Flix Streaming) sent a Letter to the Editor about a new feature film he is making, and the miracle that happened behind the scenes. With his permission, we wanted to share the good news with you.
I’m actually up in Vancouver finishing up filming the “Psych” movie (from our TV series). I head to LA right after as I’m going to finally direct my film “Life With Dog.” I found a “shoestring” to make it on, and the enormous strength from God to go ahead with this small amount and just do it! We’re going to be shooting up in Turlock, California once again, where I shot “Christian Mingle”.
An extraordinary thing happened there.
I was prepared to make the movie in Los Angeles (logistically easier on a shoestring budget) but kept getting the “signal” to go to Turlock and “explore.” I did, and found an incredible location for the main location; an old house (that honestly makes the movie). However, right next door was a Ministry (who happens to own this old house we’ll be using) and they are going to provide basically all our support systems. The woman who runs it works with abused kids, lots of emotion going on there and God’s miracles bringing these kids back to life. In short, they are going to provide us locations, cook for us, let us use their big building (they basically have a warehouse they operate out of) provide background…. and so much more. To seal the deal… when I left the location scout I had a “notion” to visit the old main street where I shot “Christian Mingle.” On this street are several antique stores (who helped us in our last movie). As we were heading out of town, literally, smack dab in the middle of one of their big picture windows was a blue women’s bicycle with a basket on it. This is EXACTLY the bike I described in my script that begins the movie! In that instant, God, with his big grin said, “okay dummy, do you need anything more from me to tell you to make this movie, and make it here, for what you have… now!” As I say in my last line of my script, “He speaks!”
All is good. Making a film is never easy, but I have a great first AD looking over us all.
Sincerely, Corbin Bernsen
