MR. MANHATTAN Is All About Faith — Here’s What This Star Said

Alexa PenaVega shared the lessons her new movie MR. MANHATTAN teaches audiences, and faith is at its core.
“The overall is the faith theme. We have loss, and we also have overcoming great obstacles,” PenaVega told Great American Family. “Dani [PenaVega’s character] is her own obstacle, and I feel like more often than not, that’s kinda the case in all of our lives. We’ll say our prayers at home and repent and release and whatnot, and one of those is just, like, fear but also fear of success. That’s not from God. Like, we need to get rid of that and kind of get that out of your system because it’s just gonna hold you back from where you’re supposed to be.”
Along with Alexa, MR. MANHATTAN stars her husband, Carlos, who plays “an ambitious attorney [who] struggles to balance his career and the demands of fatherhood after becoming caretaker to his niece and nephew,” a synopsis of the movie explains.
The movie made its streaming debut at the end of May, becoming available on Great American Pure Flix. It is set to make its TV debut this Saturday at 8/7c. A trailer for the movie can be found here.

The PenaVega’s continued excitement to work with Great American Media comes from the network’s commitment to telling redemptive and uplifting stories.
“I think the biggest thing is finding characters that… are broken, like all of us, but really have that redemption in the end,” Alexa said. “And…It doesn’t have to be a faith-based movie.”
“We’re actually trying to bring together people – and not to say that we only want to work with, you know Christian people, not at all – but when you are creating content with people who actually really know God, and talk to God, and understand God, the content is going to look very different,” she added.

The streamer’s new movie, MR. MANHATTAN, follows “Mason Bradley (Carlos PenaVega) [who] makes a promise to his brother and sister-in-law to be godfather to their newborn son (and future children). Mason has exciting news of his own: he’s just been accepted to Columbia Law School, which comes as a shock to his fiancé, Dani (Alexa PenaVega),” a summary reads.
“Ten years on, Mason is surround by big city life and obsessed with becoming partner in his firm,” the synopsis continues. “He and Dani have broken up. Just when Mason feels personal success is at hand, he receives an unimaginable call. His brother and sister-in-law have tragically been killed in a car accident.
