Supermodel Concerned Social Media Will Soon Ban Left Extremists
By Movieguide® Staff
Model Emily Ratajkowski called out Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg after his ban of President Donald Trump on Facebook and Instagram due to Capitol Hill riots.
The 29-year-old expressed her concern on Twitter, where Trump is also banned. The pregnant star noted that the ban reveals the tech billionaire’s power to blacklist anyone they want to in the future.
“This gives Facebook/tech/Zuck THE MOST POWER. If he can shut the president up/off he can shut any of us up/off,” Ratajkowski, who is pregnant, wrote in a tweet.
“My concern is that this gives big tech the opportunity to shut down ‘left extremists’ who are important political organizers,” Ratajkowski continued.

Ratajkowski’s comments came after Zuckerberg’s announcement to ban Donald Trump on social media.
“The shocking events of the last 24 hours clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden,” Zuckerberg said. “His decision to use his platform to condone rather than condemn the actions of his supporters at the Capitol building has rightly disturbed people in the U.S. and around the world. We removed these statements yesterday because we judged that their effect — and likely their intent — would be to provoke further violence.”
Zuckerberg’s statement continued: “We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great. Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”
While the President released a video urging the rioters and protestors to “go home,” Trump maintained that the election was unlawfully won by Biden and “stolen” from him.
Ratajkowski’s comments bring up important concerns, though. While she’s worried about “left extremists,” social media giants appear to be cracking down on conservatives every day.
Facebook, Twitter, Google, and Instagram continue to unfairly censor conservative content while giving liberal content a free pass. Take this summer’s social media blackout as an example.
In the coming days, it is increasingly important to seek out unbiased media coverage and practice media discernment with the content you consume.
