LOCKED DOWN

What You Need To Know:

LOCKED DOWN is a comedy about an unmarried couple, Maria and Paxton, who have broken up, but must live in lockdown together in London during the coronavirus pandemic. Both are unhappy. Paxton has lost his job, and Maria dislikes her corporate lifestyle. Paxton is offered a job, but he must change his identity. Unknowingly, they must take on the job together, transporting a $3.5 million dollar diamond ring to a buyer. Will they complete the job or steal the ring?

LOCKED DOWN has some funny elements, but it’s marred by a strong Romantic worldview. The movie promotes being wild and having a fun and free lifestyle, which can lead to a criminal lifestyle. The movie is a bit talky. One character has been sober for years but ends up smoking opium. The characters do have some interesting existential conversations on the meaning of life, God, predestination, and free will. However, the movie eventually settles on an agnostic viewpoint. LOCKED DOWN also has lots of strong foul language, some substance abuse and other negative content. The movie’s negative elements are excessive and unacceptable.

More Detail:

LOCKED DOWN follows a young couple living together who are locked down in London during the coronavirus pandemic and decide to heist the delivery of some jewelry. LOCKED DOWN has some funny elements to it, but it’s marred by a strong Romantic worldview, lots of foul language, some substance abuse, and other negative content.

Paxton has lost his job as a delivery driver, while his partner, Maria, is doing very well in her job and is about to be promoted. All Maria has to do is fire some people, and then she has the potential to be promoted. Maria has told Paxton she no longer wants to be in a relationship with him, but there’s nowhere for Paxton to go since they’re in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. The two must share their space even though they are constantly fighting and feeling unhappy about their relationship and life in general.

Paxton receives a call from his old boss asking for him to do a week’s worth of jobs. Usually, the jobs would require someone without a criminal background, but his boss can’t find any qualified drivers at this time due to the pandemic. He’s willing to give Paxton a false ID in order to do the jobs and give Paxton cash. At the same time, Maria has a big job to facilitate bringing a $3.5 million dollar diamond to a buyer in New York. She must organize the driver and the ring and get it to the client. She learns it’s the same job that Paxton has been hired to do. They decide to steal the diamond by replacing it with the fake one on display at a locked down department store.

LOCKED DOWN is a funny movie and keeps moving along. Even though the movie was made during the pandemic, with all the coronavirus restrictions, it is entertaining throughout. The movie is a bit talky, however.

LOCKED DOWN has a strong Romantic worldview. The movie promotes being wild and a fun and free lifestyle, which can lead to a criminal life style. One character has been sober for years but ends up taking an opioid. The characters do have interesting existential conversations on the meaning of life, God, predestination, and free will, but the movie eventually settles on an agnostic viewpoint. LOCKED DOWN also has lots of strong foul language and some substance abuse. The movie’s negative elements are excessive and unacceptable.

Ultimately, therefore, MOVIEGUIDE® labels LOCKED DOWN excessive and unacceptable.
