Fox’s highly-anticipated new streaming service officially has a title: FOX One.
“We know that FOX has the most loyal and engaged audiences in the industry, and FOX One is designed to reach outside of the pay-TV bundle and deliver all the best FOX branded content directly to viewers wherever they are,” Pete Distad, CEO of the new streaming platform, said in a statement.
He continued, “We have built this platform from the ground up to allow consumers to enjoy and engage with our programming in new and exciting ways, leveraging cutting edge technology to enhance the user experience across the platform.”
FOX One is expected to debut this fall, just in time for the 2025-26 NFL season.
In a recent earnings call, Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch explained that pricing has not been decided on yet but suggested FOX One’s subscription rate will not be lower than linear TV bundles.
“We do not want to lose a traditional cable subscriber to Fox One,” Murdoch said, adding that Fox is already looking into putting together streaming bundles. The CEO has been very clear that the intention with FOX One is not to “cannibalize” linear TV and is only intended to pull in viewers who have never subscribed to cable.

FOX One gives Distad another opportunity to launch a sports streaming service. Distad previously worked at Apple and Hulu, but his most recent position was as CEO at the now-defunct Venu Sports, a sports streaming platform that was canceled before its launch.
“Pete is a proven leader with deep experience in consumer products, and we’re thrilled to have him join the team to lead this new platform. His track record of innovation, execution, and building world-class streaming products speaks for itself, and we’re confident that under his leadership, we will deliver a best-in-class service that showcases FOX’s premium content and brands,” Tubi CEO Paul Cheesbrough said of Distad’s new position (Tubi has been owned by Fox since 2020).
Distad added, “I’m excited to bring FOX’s leading sports, news, and entertainment content to audiences outside the traditional pay TV bundle for the first time via an all-new streaming platform. Working closely with our content, distribution, and platform partners, we’re going to build and grow a differentiated viewing experience for consumers to access their favorite FOX programming.”
As more and more companies launch their own services to cash in on the streaming boom, this move from Fox might make the network a major player in the streaming wars.
