Bethany Hamilton Took on THE MASKED SINGER for This Reason

THE MASKED SINGER just revealed Macaron, and it was none other than pro surfer Bethany Hamilton.
While she enjoyed her time on THE MASKED SINGER, the mom of four is relieved it’s over because singing and dancing are not her thing.
“I wanted to originally do THE MASKED SINGER just because I thought it would be fun,” Hamilton said. “I sing to my children every day and thought maybe I’d get better at singing. And it’s also an opportunity to encourage people, and that’s what my life is all about.”
She was knocked out of the competition during the most recent episode of the show.
“I loved my costume, but it was also really challenging to move in and dance in — it was super hard,” she said. “I feel like learning dance moves in a short amount of time is not my forte. I’ve never been a TikTok dancer where you can just pick it up in a few minutes. It was super hard to remember everything, even remembering my lyrics felt hard. Let’s just say I’m better at surfing!”
For her though, the opportunity to remind people that they can do hard things was worth it.
“We all will face hardship at some point or another in our life, and I really just wanted to encourage people to know that they can endure and persevere, and so much good and beauty can come from some of the most awful things in life,” she told PEOPLE.
And Hamilton is no stranger to overcoming challenges. Not only did she continue with her life after the famous shark attack that left her with only one arm in 2003, but now she boldly shares her story with the world to encourage others to face their battles as well.
“Living my life so much in the public’s eye has been extremely challenging and yet very beautiful at the same time!” Hamilton previously shared on social media. “Receiving letters from people all over the world, saying I inspired them to keep going as they faced their hardship… led me to step outside of my comfort zone to encourage and bless others.”
“I am so glad I made the decision I did–even when it hasn’t been easy,” she added. “God gave me the strength when I was weak,” Hamilton continued. “I am so honored to be able to keep bringing hope to other people. It has been so amazing to see how God has used my life in ways I never imagined!”
