Disney plans to introduce its youngest viewers to the Cars and Marvel universes through two new shows aimed at children 6 and younger.
“Out shows are often a child’s very first connection to the world of Disney, sparking the songs they sing, the characters they adore, and the adventures they want to live again and again,” said Ayo Davis, the president of Disney Branded Television, after the company announced CARS: LIGHTNING RACERS and MARVEL’S AVENGERS: MIGHTIEST FRIENDS. “Today’s announcements build on that leadership, expanding the worlds kids already love and introducing new multiplatform stories that will capture the hearts of the next generation.”
In 2027, CARS: LIGHTNING RACERS will introduce viewers to the franchise’s beloved characters, including Lightning McQueen, voiced by Owen Wilson, and Mater, voiced by Larry the Cable Guy, while also introducing two new characters, Pipes and Miles. Meanwhile, MARVEL’S AVENGERS: MIGHTIEST FRIENDS will build on the upcoming show MARVEL’S IRON MAN AND HIS AWESOME FRIENDS to continue to introduce kids to the franchise’s most popular heroes.
Disney’s focus on children’s entertainment has paid off and keeps the company at the top of the streaming world.
“From BLUEY to SPIDEY AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS, MICKEY MOUSE CLUBHOUSE, SUPERKITTIES and beyond, our Disney Jr. content brand delivers trusted, joyful stories with characters that stay with audiences for a lifetime,” Davis told Deadline in June. “It’s why families continue to turn to Disney+ first — and why we remain the leader in preschool entertainment.”

Meanwhile, Disney has plans to expand the interaction kids have with its programming — something the company already does by focusing on social media like YouTube to expand its audience.
“They’re clearly on YouTube,” said Dana Walden, the co-chairman of Disney Entertainment at Walt Disney Co. “And we have a meaningful and great partnership with YouTube. We produce thousands of videos based on our series specifically for YouTube.”
“Disney Junior, I think, has 22 million subscribers. We do that because we know that’s where kids like to consume content,” she continued. “Along with Disney+, we want to keep them engaged. We want to keep incubating IP on a platform that’s important to creators and kids.”
“The work we’re doing now, although I have nothing specific to announce on the technology side, are features that will specifically address how kids are interacting with content right now in a very contemporary way…looking holistically at that kids audience, we know we have the stories that they love,” Walden added.
As Disney continues to prove why it’s been a leader in children’s entertainment for decades, it is no surprise that it wants to introduce young viewers to its most popular franchises.
