GAF Star Shares Special Encouragement for Moms

By Movieguide® Contributor

While many Americans enjoyed some time off for Labor Day this year, Great American Family actress Danica McKellar had an extra special reason to celebrate.

“Exactly 14 years ago exactly, Sept 6, 2010, I went into labor – which was actually Labor Day that year! 😁” she posted on Instagram. “And a rather uncomfortable 36 hours later (I opted for the no drugs approach 😋), with the unyielding support of my mom, sister and his dad, I finally met Draco, and my life changed forever, in the best way possible. 🙏”

Her post shows three photos, the first two of her pregnant and in labor, while the last shows her holding her baby boy.

“Felt like a miracle then, and still does today,” she added.

McKellar then shared a word of encouragement to her followers.

“And to all mamas out there who might be struggling – just give love to your kids, as much as you can, as often as you can. As they grow up, you’ll see it’s the best investment in the whole wide world. ❤️❤️❤️”

Fans thanked McKellar for the advice and wished her son a happy birthday.

“So sweet and so true 🤍 love your motherhood advice!” one user said.

Another person added, “Awwwww happy birthday to your Draco!!! Gus and I are wishing him (AND YOU, BEAUTIFUL MAMA) a happy HAPPY Birthday!! 🎁🎉🎊🎂🎈”

McKellar shares Draco with ex-husband Mike Verta. In a 2013 conversation with PEOPLE, she shared the love she feels in the role of a mother.

“You tap into this love that you didn’t even know was possible. I thought I knew what love was, but it’s crazy…I love Draco with everything that I am — there’s no question about it.”

McKellar homeschools her now 14-year-old which she has been open about.

She previously told Fox News, “We co-parent fantastically. It’s been a journey, but I’m so grateful for it, and I get [Draco] half the time. So, if he was in school all day long, I wouldn’t get to see him very much, so I also really appreciate the fact that we get to bond more.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the actress’ faith:

Since her decision to follow Christ in recent years, Danica McKellar has been sharing her faith journey as she challenged herself to read through the Bible in a year.

The Lord’s Prayer is one passage that spoke to her, especially when Jesus talks about forgiveness.

“One thing that I do now to fall asleep if I have like a lot of things on my mind, which I often do, is I say the Lord’s Prayer to myself silently,” Danica McKellar said in a video on the Great American Community website. “It’s just so calming. And because I’ve been doing that so often, I like heard it in my head a lot of times, and I’ve been able to really reflect on it.”
