What to Expect from the Kendrick Brothers’ Upcoming Movie THE FORGE

The Kendrick brothers have offered a first look at their newest project, THE FORGE, which will come to theaters this August.

“Isaiah Wright has some growing up to do. A year out of high school with no plans for his future, Isaiah is challenged by his single mom and a successful businessman to start charting a better course for his life,” a synopsis of the movie explains. “Through the prayers of his mother and biblical discipleship from his new mentor, Isaiah begins to discover God’s purpose for his life is so much more than he could hope for or imagine.”

THE FORGE explores how having strong leaders can make an incredible impact. While this is true for all areas of life, it is especially true for faith, where having somebody to shepherd you through can be the difference between whether or not you form a relationship with Christ.

“[THE FORGE] is family-friendly, but it is intense and exciting. In some different places, it is an emotional roller coaster. There’s some funny humor that’s in the movie, but most importantly, it’s this call to discipleship—that we need to get busy about leading people into an abiding surrendered walk with Jesus because that’s the greatest thing in the world,” said Stephen Kendrick.

“We believe the Lord is going to stir up this focus in the body of Christ, and so we’re very grateful to have worked on a movie like this,” Alex Kendrick added. “It was challenging for us but edifying for the body of Christ because we need to be salt and light like never before.”

The movie returns to the world of WAR ROOM, featuring Priscilla Shirer’s Elizabeth Jordan and Karen Abercrombie’s Miss Clara Williams. Joining them are Cameron Arnett, Aspen Kennedy, T.C. Stallings and BJ Arnett.

THE FORGE hits theaters on Aug. 23, 2024.

Alex and Stephen Kendrick, the duo behind movies like WAR ROOM, COURAGEOUS and OVERCOMER, just announced their latest project, THE FORGE.

THE FORGE, produced by Affirm Films and Provident Films, “includes familiar faces such as Priscilla Shirer (WAR ROOM, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE), Cameron Arnett (OVERCOMER, STAND YOUR GROUND), Karen Abercrombie (WAR ROOM, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3) and newcomer Aspen Kennedy,” a press release announced.

It is slated for an Aug. 23, 2024, in-theater premiere.

“We’ve just finished shooting. We’re still in post on it, but we’ve got the first teaser about to come out,” the brothers announced on YouTube. “We’ve been working on this for over a year. We were praying about it this time last year and wrote the script, shot it this past summer, and we’re excited about you getting to see THE FORGE.”
