Roma Downey recently spent some time with her fur babies in the wilderness, taking inspiration from Psalm 46:10.
“Early morning walks with the labs! I love being outdoors, in the peace and quiet and beauty of nature. I love moving, walking, hiking,” she captioned in a June 12 collection of Instagram photos.
“I‘m so grateful for the time on this mountain to breathe to think to reflect to pray. To be quiet, to be still 🙏🙏. ‘Be still, and know that I am God; Psalm 46.10,” she finished.
She shared photos of herself surrounded by tall trees with her two happy-looking labradors and a few selfies with a wide smile on her face.
On June 13, Downey also posted a peaceful video of her dogs exploring some bushes with the sun streaming through tree branches overhead.
Likely in light of Israel’s attack on Iran, she captioned it, “Praying this morning for light to flood the darkness and heartache in our world 🙌 #light… #prayforpeace 🙏🙌 ‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.’ Martin Luther King, Jr.”

Downey enjoyed a lot of time in nature recently. On June 9, she shared another video of being outside with her pets as she soaked up the nature around her. In her post, she asked for prayer for her husband, Mark, as he recently had surgery on his shoulder. She previously revealed to her social media followers that she is Mark’s “nurse” while he recovers and said he had pain and discomfort.
“Early morning walk and I see the sun rising through the trees . I love how fresh the air smells in the mountains and the scent of the woods and the sweet sounds of nature with little birds singing. The dogs love it up here too.”
“It’s a good place for Marks shoulder to continue to heal it’s a long road to recovery,” she said. “… one day at a time. Please keep him in your prayers … 🙏Philippians 4:6-7 says, ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’”
Many of her followers commented that they’re praying for Mark, and some shared their own shoulder surgery experiences.
One person commented, “So beautiful Roma. Thank you for sharing. Sending prayers to Mr. B. I had shoulder surgery so I kinda have an idea of how he feels. And yes, it is a long road to recovery.🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕”
It’s evident that Downey aspires to follow scripture. As a follower of Jesus, she’s obediently being “still” and praying amid less than ideal situations. She knows God is there and doesn’t need to worry. What a strong believer she is.
