Chris Pratt is encouraging people to “stop scrolling” and spend some time on scripture.
“You know how you start scrolling sometimes and you’re like, ‘What am I doing?’ And then periodically go, ‘Oh, that’s what I’m doing,’” he said in an Instagram video for Hallow. “Well, this is what you’re doing. You’re going to stop scrolling. You and I are going to read a couple verses of Scripture together real quick. That’s why you picked up your phone today. Isn’t that interesting?”
Pratt then shared Joshua 1:9 — “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
“Simple as that,” the actor finished.

In the caption of his post, Pratt wrote, “My schedule has been pretty crazy lately, but what always keeps me grounded is prayer, scripture, and some real peace and quiet with God. If you need a little of that too, check out @hallowapp.”
In another video made in collaboration with Hallow, Pratt said the app has “been a game changer for me personally, diving deeper into the Bible and praying daily.”
Pratt isn’t the only celebrity who has partnered with the prayer app. THE CHOSEN’s Jonathan Roumie, Mark Wahlberg, and Gwen Stefani have all worked with Hallow.
Alex Jones, CEO and Co-Founder of Hallow, wrote about the app’s partnerships in a post on their website.
“I know there will be people who do not approve of some of these partnerships. There are many who will hate us for someone we partner with. That’s okay,” he wrote. “I will stand with my fellow sinners, of which I am the foremost.”
Jones continued, “During His time on Earth, Christ was criticized for associating with those who were the most hated in His time: tax collectors, outcasts, prostitutes, and sinners. And yet that is what He did. He did not ask them to answer a checklist of beliefs or renounce their sins publicly before He associated with them. Yes, He stood for Truth boldly and publicly and bravely, but that did not prevent Him from dining with sinners. He did so in order to transform them and us. And this is our goal as well – to transform all of us, including our partners and their audiences, with the fire of Christ’s love.
“We all have room to grow deeper in prayer,” he concluded. “We all have an opportunity to give more of our lives to Christ.”
Pratt’s latest video is a bit of encouragement for anyone who thinks they might not have enough time in the day to engage with scripture, helping them put the phone down and read God’s word.
