Oh Captain, My Captain – Chris Evans Back as Steve Rogers

Chris Evan has been confirmed to reprise his role of CAPTAIN AMERICA in a new teaser trailer for AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY.

The teaser has yet to release online, it was only shown in theaters before screensing of AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH, per USA Today.

According to Variety, the teaser opened with Steve Rodgers “riding a motorcycle up to his home as a piano rendition of the ‘Avengers’ theme plays in the background. His blue helmet is reminiscent of his Captain America costume, which he pulls out to reminiscently admire. He holds a newborn baby and looks proudly, as the teaser ends with ‘Steve Rogers will return for ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’”

When the initial cast list video came out for the movies, Evans name was left off the list. Now, fans are excited to see him make his return to the MCU.

To make things more interesting, AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY directors, Joe and Anthony Russo shared their own 10-second clip.

The video opens up to a clapperboard for the movie which then begins transition to a clock with 12 months.

“1 year…” the brothers wrote in the caption of the post.

Before Evans was announced as an official cast member in the film, Simu Liu expressed his gratitude for being able to work with amaing co-stars.

“It means everything,” the SHANG-CHI actor told PEOPLE. “It’s such a privilege to have played a character that resonated with so many different people.”

The best part of DOOMSDAY for Liu is being able to “put the suit back on again, except with these incredible legendary actors, many of whom I grew up idolizing and worshiping. Now, I get to call them my co-workers.”

Liu decribed DOOMSDAY as a “love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that,” he told ScreenRant.

Liu shared that this movie is “for all the misfits and the weirdos and the underdogs that grew up reading comic books and feeling like there was hope for them somehow – that it didn’t matter if they didn’t fit in – I think there’s just always a special place in my heart for that entire genre.”

In the screening for AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH, the MCU released a new one minute trailer that revealed Chris Evans returning as Steve Rodgers. In this universe, Rodgers is happily married to Peggy, and the couple just had a newborn baby. Could Rodgers return spark his official return to the MCU and not just cameo?
